Jhargram palace was founded around 1952 CE. It was formed by Sarveshwar Singh. It belonged to the Chauhan Clan. This clan emerged from the Fatehpur Sikri. Emperor Akbar handed over the Subedari of Jhargram to Raja Man Singh. 

The area belonged to Malla Raja. Rajput military forces together with Raja Sarveshwar Singh combined together invaded the deep forest region. This region was Junglekhand. 

The tribal rulers were defeated in the battle. It was then that the ruler adopted the name Malla Deb and established his own kingdom. Jhargram became his capital. Jhargram Rajbari was his abode. 

Many Bengali movie shootings took place in this location. Famous movies like Sannyasi Raja, Tintirettor-Jishu and Durgesgarer Guptadhan were featured in this Rajbari. Hence, you can see it is a popular place for tourist attraction.
